01 General
What is ASEEE?
The American Society for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (ASEEE) is a US-based professional society. ASEEE designs, accredits, and certifies competency-based training programs in electrical, instrumentation and control, and electronics engineering. Programs are delivered through ASEEE-approved training centers, and every certificate we issue can be verified online. Our mission is captured in three words: Innovate, Educate, and Empower.
Who are ASEEE programs designed for?
ASEEE programs serve technicians, engineers, supervisors, inspectors, and safety professionals who work with electrical, instrumentation, control, and electronic systems. Typical participants include:
- Electrical and instrumentation technicians seeking verified competence
- Engineers moving into specialized fields such as protection or hazardous areas
- Supervisors and authorized persons responsible for safe systems of work
- Employers building qualified, auditable workforces
What disciplines does ASEEE cover?
ASEEE programs are organized into nine disciplines: Power Systems & High Voltage; Cable Jointing & Termination; Hazardous Areas & Explosion Protection; Instrumentation, Control & Calibration; Electrical Safety & Authorization; Fire & Gas Detection and Life Safety; Testing, Inspection & QA/QC; Utility Locating & Cathodic Protection; and Electrical Installation, Electronics & Communications. Visit the courses page to browse current programs.
What makes ASEEE certification competency-based?
An ASEEE certificate confirms that a candidate has demonstrated defined competencies, not simply attended a course. Each program sets out learning outcomes linked to recognized codes and standards. Candidates complete knowledge and practical assessments, and certificates are issued only when assessment criteria are met. Details are available in our Certification Policy.
How can I contact ASEEE?
You can email us at [email protected] or use the form on our contact page. Please include your certificate ID or training center name, if relevant, so we can respond to your inquiry efficiently.
02 Programs & Enrollment
How do I enroll in an ASEEE program?
ASEEE programs are delivered through approved training centers. To enroll:
- Browse the courses page and select a program
- Choose an approved training center offering that program
- Contact the center or submit an inquiry to confirm dates and requirements
- Complete registration with the center
If you need help finding a center, email [email protected].
Are there prerequisites for ASEEE programs?
Prerequisites depend on the program. Foundation programs are generally open to candidates with basic technical knowledge. Advanced and authorization-level programs may require prior qualifications, documented work experience, or completion of a lower-level ASEEE program. Prerequisites for each program are listed on its course page, and training centers can confirm eligibility before you register.
Do programs include hands-on practical training?
Yes. Practical work is central to competency-based training. Most ASEEE programs combine classroom instruction with hands-on exercises on representative equipment, and practical assessment is part of certification wherever the competency requires it. The balance between theory and practice varies by program and is described on each course page.
Can my company arrange training for a group of employees?
Yes. Employers can arrange group or on-site delivery through an ASEEE-approved training center. Group programs follow the same learning outcomes and assessment criteria as public sessions, so certificates carry the same value. To discuss group training, contact an approved center directly or email [email protected] and we will connect you with a suitable provider.
What language are programs delivered in?
Programs are developed in English. Some approved training centers may offer delivery or support in additional languages, depending on their capabilities and local needs. Assessment standards remain the same regardless of the delivery language. Please confirm language options with your chosen training center before enrolling.
03 Certification & Verification
How do I verify an ASEEE certificate?
Every ASEEE certificate carries a unique ID. To verify a certificate:
- Go to Certificate Check at aseee.org/verify
- Enter the certificate ID exactly as printed
- Review the holder name, program, and status returned
If the details do not match the certificate presented to you, email [email protected].
How long is an ASEEE certificate valid?
Validity depends on the program. For most competency programs, ASEEE recommends recertification every three years so that skills remain aligned with current codes, standards, and technology. The validity period, where applicable, is shown on the certificate and in its online verification record. See the Certification Policy for details.
How do I recertify?
Recertification confirms that your competence remains current. Depending on the program, it may involve a refresher program, a reassessment, or both. We recommend planning recertification before your current certificate reaches the end of its recommended validity period. Contact an approved training center or email [email protected] to learn which recertification route applies to your program.
What should I do if my certificate contains an error?
If your name, program title, or other details are incorrect, contact the training center where you completed the program, or email [email protected] with your certificate ID and a description of the error. Supporting documents may be requested. Once verified, a corrected certificate is issued and the online verification record is updated.
Can a certificate be suspended or revoked?
Yes. ASEEE may suspend or revoke a certificate in cases such as assessment misconduct, misrepresentation, falsification, or serious breaches of the Code of Ethics. A certificate that has been suspended or revoked will show its status in online verification. Decisions can be appealed under our Complaints & Appeals Policy.
04 Training Centers
What is an ASEEE-approved training center?
An approved training center is an organization that ASEEE has reviewed and authorized to deliver specific ASEEE programs. Approval considers factors such as qualified instructors and assessors, suitable facilities and equipment, and quality management. Approved centers deliver programs according to ASEEE learning outcomes and assessment requirements.
How do I verify a training center?
Use Center Check at aseee.org/verify to confirm that a training center is approved by ASEEE. We recommend verifying a center before you enroll or pay any fees. If a provider claims to deliver ASEEE programs but does not appear in Center Check, please report it to [email protected].
How can my organization become an approved training center?
Organizations interested in delivering ASEEE programs can apply for approval. The process typically includes:
- Submitting an application and supporting documentation
- Review of instructors, assessors, facilities, and equipment
- Review of quality and record-keeping procedures
- Agreement to ASEEE delivery and assessment requirements
Email [email protected] to request application information.
Can a training center deliver every ASEEE program?
No. Approval is program-specific. A training center is authorized only for the programs for which it has demonstrated suitable instructors, assessors, facilities, and equipment. Centers can apply to extend their approval to additional programs. Before enrolling, confirm with the center that your chosen program is within its approved scope.
What if I have a concern about a training center?
If you have a concern about the quality of delivery, assessment, or conduct at an approved training center, raise it first with the center. If the issue is not resolved, you can submit a complaint to ASEEE at [email protected]. Complaints are handled under our Complaints & Appeals Policy.
05 Payments & Policies
How do I pay for a program?
Program fees and payment methods are set by the approved training center delivering the program, or are shown during checkout where online payment is available. Please confirm the total fee, what it includes, and accepted payment methods before registering. Always verify the center through Center Check before making a payment.
What is the refund and cancellation policy?
Refund and cancellation terms depend on when a request is made and on how the program was purchased. Full details, including how to submit a request, are available on our Refund & Cancellation Policy page. For programs purchased through a training center, the center’s own terms may also apply.
How does ASEEE protect my personal information?
ASEEE collects and uses personal information to deliver programs, issue and verify certificates, and communicate with you. Certificate verification displays only the information needed to confirm a credential. Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the rights available to you, including rights for California residents and visitors from the European Union.
How do I submit a complaint or appeal a decision?
You can submit a complaint or appeal by emailing [email protected]. Please include:
- Your name and contact details
- Your certificate ID or training center name, if relevant
- A clear description of the issue or decision being appealed
- Any supporting documents
The process and timelines are described in our Complaints & Appeals Policy.
