This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how the American Society for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (“ASEEE,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles cancellations, transfers, and refund requests for programs, assessments, and related services purchased directly from ASEEE. We aim to be fair, transparent, and consistent.
Scope
This policy applies to fees paid directly to ASEEE through our website or invoicing. Many programs are delivered and invoiced by ASEEE-approved training centers. Where you paid a training center, that center’s refund and cancellation terms apply to its fees, and you should contact the center first. ASEEE can help where a center’s handling of a request raises a concern under our Complaints & Appeals Policy.

- Program start date: the first scheduled day of instruction or assessment.
- Cancellation deadline: the date stated in your registration confirmation or program details by which a cancellation qualifies for a refund.
- Non-refundable fees: any fees identified as non-refundable at the time of purchase, such as application or administrative fees.
Cancellations by You
Before the cancellation deadline
If you cancel in writing before the cancellation deadline, you are eligible for a refund of the fees paid, less any non-refundable fees disclosed at the time of purchase.
After the cancellation deadline and before the program starts
Cancellations received after the cancellation deadline but before the program start date may be eligible for a transfer to a future session or a credit toward another program, as described below. Refunds in this period are not guaranteed and are considered case by case.
After the program starts or non-attendance
Fees are generally not refundable once a program has started, or if you do not attend without notice. Exceptions may be considered under the extenuating circumstances section below.
Transfers and Substitutions
- Session transfers. You may request a transfer to a later session of the same program, subject to availability. A transfer may be requested once per registration unless otherwise agreed.
- Substitutions. An employer may substitute another participant before the program start date, provided the substitute meets the program prerequisites.
- Credits. Where a credit is issued, it will state its value and expiry date and may be applied toward an eligible ASEEE program or service.
Cancellations or Changes by ASEEE
We may cancel or reschedule a program because of insufficient enrollment, instructor unavailability, safety concerns, or events beyond our reasonable control. If we cancel a program, you may choose a full refund of the fees paid to ASEEE for that program or a transfer to another session. ASEEE is not responsible for travel, accommodation, or other costs you incur, so we recommend booking refundable travel arrangements.
Assessments and Recertification
Fees for assessments and recertification follow the same principles. Once an assessment has been taken, the fee is not refundable, regardless of the outcome. Reassessment arrangements, where available, are described in the program details and our Certification Policy.
Digital Products and Online Content
Fees for downloadable materials or online content are generally non-refundable once access has been provided, except where required by law or where the content is defective and we are unable to correct it.
Extenuating Circumstances
We understand that serious illness, bereavement, military deployment, or similar events can prevent attendance. If such circumstances apply, contact us as soon as possible. We may offer a transfer, credit, or refund at our discretion and may request reasonable supporting documentation.
How to Request a Cancellation or Refund
- Email [email protected] with the subject line “Cancellation Request” or “Refund Request.”
- Include your full name, program name, session date, order or invoice number, and the reason for your request.
- Attach any supporting documentation, if applicable.
We will acknowledge your request and notify you of the outcome. The date we receive your written request is the date used to apply this policy.
Processing of Refunds
Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method whenever possible. Processing times depend on your bank or payment provider. If a refund cannot be returned to the original payment method, we will contact you to arrange an alternative.
Chargebacks
Please contact us before initiating a chargeback so that we have the opportunity to resolve your concern directly. Access to programs or certificates may be paused while a payment dispute is under review.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The version in effect at the time of your purchase applies to that purchase.
